Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has launched a sharp critique of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, labeling his ongoing political agitation a “chartered plane movement” rather than a genuine struggle for the public.

Bukhari, speaking at a press conference in Lahore, pointed to the irony of the PTI leadership’s optics. She alleged that while Gandapur calls for street protests and defiance against the federal government, his personal logistics suggest a disconnect from the common worker.

“The Chief Minister is running a movement, but it’s a movement on chartered planes,” Bukhari said, dismissing the seriousness of the PTI’s current political strategy. She argued that the provincial machinery of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is being leveraged to fund and facilitate personal political ambitions, effectively turning state resources into tools for party mobilization.

The criticism highlights a recurring theme in the ongoing tug-of-war between the PML-N and the PTI. For the ruling coalition in Punjab, the narrative is clear: they want to paint the opposition’s protests as elitist and disconnected from the economic reality of the average Pakistani citizen.

Bukhari didn’t stop at the logistics of travel. She challenged the provincial leadership to account for the performance of their administration in KP, suggesting that the focus on street agitation is a smokescreen meant to distract from governance failures within the province.

The PTI, however, maintains that its protests are a necessary response to what it calls a “mandate theft” and the erosion of democratic norms. Gandapur has frequently framed his actions as a fight for the survival of the party and the release of its founder, Imran Khan.

Whether the public views these protests as a legitimate democratic exercise or a tactical distraction remains the central question of this political cycle. For now, the war of words shows no sign of cooling, with state officials and opposition leaders trading barbs that focus more on personal conduct than policy debate.

As the provincial government in KP continues to mobilize for further demonstrations, the rhetoric from Lahore serves as a reminder that the political cost of these maneuvers is being measured in more than just fuel for chartered flights.
