Actor-turned-politician C. Joseph Vijay has voiced strong support for the ongoing protests against the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), calling for the complete abolition of the medical entrance examination.
In a public statement, Vijay said that NEET places an unfair burden on students, particularly those from rural areas, economically weaker families, and state board backgrounds. He argued that the examination creates inequality in access to medical education and urged the central government to reconsider the policy.
Vijay emphasized that admissions to medical colleges should be based on students’ academic performance in their school education rather than a single nationwide entrance test. He also expressed solidarity with students and parents demanding reforms in the admission process.
The issue of NEET has remained a major political and social debate in Tamil Nadu, where several political parties and student organizations have consistently opposed the examination, claiming it disadvantages many deserving students.
