ISLAMABAD: The Federal National Cyber Crime Agency (NCCA) has arrested Dr Omer Adil for allegedly delivering hate speech and using abusive language against a community on social media, following a complaint filed by a citizen.
Dr Adil, a controversial figure, has often sparked outrage online due to his provocative remarks about public figures and current affairs.
In July 2024, he was arrested for making objectionable remarks against a senior journalist during a talk show, after which he issued a public apology. Later that year, a sessions court dismissed his bail plea in a cybercrime case lodged by TV host Ayesha Jahanzeb, who accused him of posting sexually explicit comments about her on social media.
Authorities said further investigation into the latest case is underway.
