ISLAMABAD — The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet has formally approved a series of crucial Technical Supplementary Grants (TSGs), including a dedicated Rs2.12 billion readjustment within the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for FY2025-26 to finance the construction of a model prison and critical security infrastructure in the federal capital.
The high-level session, chaired by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, focused on clearing outstanding liabilities and unlocking essential administrative funds across several key departments under the Interior Division:
-
Federal Capital Infrastructure: The ECC approved Rs2.12 billion to be split among three milestone projects under the Interior Division: the ongoing construction of the Model Prison in Sector H-16, Islamabad, the National Police Hospital Project, and the newly established Foreign National Security Cell Dashboard and Allied Facilities project.
-
Immigration and Passports: To address severe backlogs and maintain regular services, the committee cleared a substantial TSG of Rs5 billion in favor of the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports. The fund is specifically earmarked to settle outstanding liabilities for printing materials and ensure an uninterrupted supply of passport booklets.
-
Citizen Services & Regional Delivery: A separate grant of Rs2.19 billion was greenlit for the Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control to sustain the operations of the NADRA-TDP-ERP/KP-CCSDP project. This directly facilitates the continuation of citizen services under the World Bank-financed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Citizen-Centered Service Delivery Project.
-
Counter-Narcotics Operations: Additionally, the forum approved Rs240.5 million for the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) to execute mandatory maintenance and repairs on its helicopter fleet, restoring crucial aerial support for active operational deployments.
