Epstein survivors demand public inquiry into Prince Andrew

Survivors of Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking network are intensifying pressure on the UK government, calling for a formal public inquiry into Prince Andrew’s past associations with the disgraced financier.

The group, representing several women who suffered abuse under Epstein, sent a formal letter to the Home Office this week. They argue that the Duke of York’s previous ties to Epstein and his convicted accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell, remain a matter of significant public interest that has never been subjected to a rigorous, transparent investigation.

For years, the royal family has sought to distance itself from the fallout. Prince Andrew stepped back from public duties in 2019 following a disastrous *BBC Newsnight* interview where he attempted to explain his friendship with Epstein. He later settled a civil sexual assault lawsuit brought by Virginia Giuffre for an undisclosed sum, consistently denying any wrongdoing.

The survivors argue that a private settlement does not equate to accountability.

“The public deserves to know the extent of the Prince’s involvement,” said one representative for the group. They contend that the lack of an official government probe leaves a void in the historical record, one that allows unanswered questions about the Prince’s proximity to one of the world’s most notorious sex offenders to linger.

The UK government has historically resisted calls for such an inquiry. Downing Street maintains that the matter is a private issue for the Royal Household rather than a concern for state-led investigation. However, the legal and moral pressure is shifting. Critics of the current government stance point out that the fallout from the Epstein scandal touched global political figures, intelligence agencies, and high-net-worth individuals, yet the Prince remains the only senior British public figure tied to the circle who has avoided a formal, public accounting.

For the survivors, the push for an inquiry is about more than just the Prince. It is about exposing the network that enabled Epstein to operate for decades with impunity. They argue that until the full scope of his associates’ knowledge and participation is laid bare in a public forum, the victims will never see true justice.

Whether the Home Office will break its silence remains the central question. As the survivors continue to coordinate their campaign, they are banking on the reality that for the British establishment, the Epstein shadow is proving impossible to outrun.
