The excessive use of fried foods during Iftar has led to a significant increase in patients suffering from gastro and stomach related illnesses.

‎According to sources, the frequent consumption of fried items such as samosas, pakoras, and rolls at Iftar has resulted in a large number of citizens turning to hospitals.

‎More than 700 gastro cases have been reported over the past seven days at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre and Civil Hospital Karachi.

‎Hospital administration stated that patients are being brought to emergency departments with complaints of vomiting, diarrhea, fever, severe stomach pain, and acidity. From Iftar until Sehri, pressure in emergency wards increases significantly.

‎Health experts say that after fasting all day, suddenly consuming large quantities of fried food severely affects the digestive system, leading to a rise in cases of acidity and vomiting.

‎They added that Ramadan represents moderation and a simple lifestyle, but citizens are consuming fried foods in large quantities at Iftar.

‎Experts have advised citizens to break their fast with simple food, open the fast with dates, allow some time before eating, and then consume light home-cooked meals. Fruits, yogurt, and a balanced diet should be preferred, while fried foods should be completely avoided to prevent health issues.
