A fraudulent website mimicking the design and branding of *Dawn* is circulating a fabricated report claiming the newspaper has launched a proprietary artificial intelligence platform. The site, which uses a deceptive URL to trick readers, has been flagged by media watchdogs as a sophisticated phishing attempt.

The fake article asserts that *Dawn*—Pakistan’s oldest English-language newspaper—has introduced an “AI-driven investment tool” capable of generating guaranteed financial returns. It uses manipulated imagery and forged quotes from the publication’s editorial staff to lend the hoax an air of legitimacy.

Digital security analysts say the site is a classic “spoofing” operation. By mirroring the visual identity of a trusted news outlet, the perpetrators aim to harvest user credentials and payment information. The site’s call-to-action prompts visitors to register for the platform, a common tactic used to steal personal data.

*Dawn* officials confirmed the report is entirely false. A spokesperson for the newspaper reiterated that the outlet has no affiliation with any such AI platform or investment scheme. The publication has warned its readers to verify URLs strictly and avoid clicking on suspicious links circulating through social media or encrypted messaging apps.

The rise of generative AI has made it easier for bad actors to create convincing, high-fidelity clones of legitimate news portals. These campaigns often target high-traffic sites to exploit the trust established by established journalism brands.

Digital forensics experts suggest that the fake site’s domain registration hides the identity of the owners, a standard practice for malicious actors. While the domain is currently being reported to hosting providers for takedown, the incident serves as a reminder of the vulnerability of digital platforms to targeted disinformation.

Security experts advise users to check the domain name in their browser’s address bar before entering any sensitive information. If the URL deviates from the official *Dawn* web address, it is a fabrication.
