Hundreds of Pakistani students traveling to Finland are facing uncertainty and travel disruptions after Qatar reportedly suspended the visa-on-arrival facility for Pakistani passport holders, creating serious complications for students using Doha as a transit point for their international journeys.

Many students enrolled in Finnish universities had booked flights through Qatar Airways with transit stops in Doha due to affordable fares and convenient connections. However, the sudden restrictions have left several students stranded, confused about transit requirements, and worried about missing university deadlines, orientation sessions, and residence permit procedures.

According to affected students and travel agents, passengers traveling through Qatar are now being asked to provide additional documentation or obtain pre-approved visas before boarding flights. The development has especially impacted students traveling for the upcoming academic intake in Finland, where universities are preparing for the arrival of international students.

Several students claimed they were informed about the new restrictions only hours before departure, leaving little time to make alternative arrangements. Some families have reportedly spent large amounts on rebooking tickets through other countries after concerns emerged over possible entry or transit complications in Doha.

Travel consultants stated that while transit passengers usually do not leave the airport, uncertainty regarding airline policies and immigration procedures has caused panic among students and parents. They urged authorities to provide clear guidance to avoid further confusion.

The issue has triggered concern on social media, where students shared fears about delayed arrivals, financial losses, and academic setbacks. Some students also appealed to Pakistani authorities and diplomatic missions to engage with Qatari officials and help resolve the matter quickly.

Education experts warned that delays in reaching Finland could create difficulties for students regarding university registration, accommodation arrangements, and residence permit verification processes. They advised students to remain in contact with airlines, universities, and embassies for updated travel instructions.

Neither Qatari authorities nor Pakistani officials have yet issued a detailed public clarification regarding the reported suspension and its impact on transit travelers. Meanwhile, students continue to seek alternative routes in hopes of reaching Finland before the start of their academic sessions.
