A high level delegation of the Polio Oversight Board of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative visited Pakistan.
According to the National Emergency Operations Centre, the high level delegation of the Polio Oversight Board met with senior officials of the anti-polio programme. During the meeting, the delegation was given a detailed briefing on Pakistan’s efforts to eradicate polio and recent progress made in this regard.
The National EOC stated that the delegation reaffirmed its full confidence in Pakistan’s polio eradication programme and its commitment to continued support. The delegation also appreciated the effective leadership and strong commitment of the Government of Pakistan in efforts to eliminate polio.
According to the National EOC, the next six months have been declared crucial for the complete eradication of polio in Pakistan and around the world. Emphasis was also placed on further strengthening the routine immunization system alongside polio eradication efforts.
During the meeting, members of the Polio Oversight Board met with female frontline health workers. The delegation members listened to the encouraging experiences of the frontline health workers and appreciated their valuable services, extraordinary contributions, and key role in the eradication of polio.
