ISLAMABAD — The leadership of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has decided to assign a significant administrative responsibility to central leader Hamza Shehbaz Sharif within the federal government, according to sources cited by media reports. The elder son of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has already been allocated an office within the Prime Minister’s Office in the federal capital, where he is scheduled to formally assume his official duties on Monday, July 27. The high-level decision to bring the former provincial chief executive into the federal fold was made upon the direct instructions of PML-N supreme leader Nawaz Sharif.
In addition to his upcoming official governance portfolio at the federal level, sources indicated that the former Chief Minister of Punjab will also actively oversee core party organizational matters. Hamza Shehbaz brings substantial legislative and administrative experience to the center, having previously served as the Chief Minister of Punjab from April to July 2022. Prior to his chief ministerial tenure, he held the influential position of Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly from 2018 to 2022, alongside serving multiple terms as a Member of the National Assembly (MNA) between 2008 and 2018
