HEC Approves MPhil Programmes in Medical-related Areas in JSMU

Karachi, July 1, 2025- Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) has been granted No Objection Certificates (NOCs) by Higher Education Commission (HEC) to start MPhil programs in Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry. It is one of the significant milestones in the academic life of JSMU since it demonstrates how it has increasingly become more attentive to postgraduate medical education and research.

It is estimated that the new set programs approved will benefit in the area of research capacity building, faculty development, and the provision of high academic training to potential healthcare professional providers all over Pakistan.

Program Director Prof. Dr. Farah Jawed, Prof. Azhar Mughal (Dean, Basic Medical Sciences), Prof. Ambreen Usmani (Principal, Sindh Medical College), and Prof. Amjad Siraj Memon (S.I) Leadership was congratulated by the vice Chancellor, especially since the applications to pursue undergraduate programs were very low; and they led it with great optimism, resulting in a tremendous increase in applications to the undergraduate programs. He recognized the hard work of faculty members and departmental heads in fulfilling stringent standards of HEC.

Dr. Sadaf Hamid Mirza, Dr. Surraiyya Sarwat and Dr. Ambreen Usmani (Anatomy); Dr. Fatima Abid, Dr. Padma Rathore and Dr. Noor-un-Nisa (Physiology); and Dr. Qurrat Ul Aen, Dr. Uzma Naseeb and Dr. Abid Ali (Biochemistry) have been approved as supervisors.
