The UK Government, British Council, and Pakistan have agreed to launch a biannual Interprovincial Ministerial Meeting focused on education reforms, cross-provincial collaboration, and national policy alignment.

The Pakistani delegation, led by Wajiha Qamar, Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training, included education ministers and secretaries from Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Together, they committed to deepening cooperation with the British Council on teacher training, digital education, curriculum reform, and youth skills development.

Future collaborations with UK institutions, including the Scottish Government, were also explored to strengthen teacher capacity building.

Jane Marriott, British High Commissioner, emphasized the UK’s commitment to improving education outcomes, particularly for girls and marginalized children, through funding, research, and technical assistance. James Hampson, Country Director, British Council Pakistan, highlighted Pakistan’s progress despite challenges and reaffirmed ongoing support.

Wajiha Qamar stressed the need for critical thinking, skills, and digital readiness beyond classrooms, while Faisal Khan Tarakai, KPK Minister, underscored education as key to equity, climate resilience, and innovation.

The announcement was made at the Education World Forum 2025 in London, where Pakistan’s participation drew global attention.
