The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has introduced a new Computer Science curriculum for 2025, featuring more than 14 advanced specializations to align higher education with global technology trends and Pakistan’s digital transformation goals.
According to the HEC, the updated syllabus includes modern fields such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science, Cybersecurity, Robotics, and Quantum Computing. It also incorporates professional certification programs to ensure graduates possess both academic knowledge and industry-recognized skills.
The Commission further announced that the Associate Degree in Computing has been officially recognized as a skills-based qualification, expanding professional opportunities for students pursuing technology-focused careers.
Developed in collaboration with academia, industry experts, and government institutions, the new curriculum emphasizes hands-on learning, final-year projects, and field experience, in accordance with the Undergraduate Education Policy 2023.
An HEC spokesperson said the reform is designed to produce industry-ready graduates equipped to meet the demands of Pakistan’s rapidly evolving digital economy.
