The Higher Education Commission’s (HEC) Education Testing Council (ETC) has postponed several exams scheduled for October 11 and 12 due to the prevailing law and order situation across Pakistan.
According to an official statement released on Friday, the affected tests include the Undergraduate Studies Admission Test (USAT), the Higher Education Aptitude Test (HAT), and the Recruitment Test for AML-CFT positions. HEC stated that a new schedule will be announced later, and all registered candidates will be informed accordingly.
The decision followed widespread disruptions in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, where strict security measures were enforced ahead of a political protest. Major roads were blocked with containers, mobile internet services were suspended, and the Metro Bus service halted, leaving citizens stranded.
The Ministry of Interior confirmed that mobile data services in both cities would remain suspended until further notice, directing the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to coordinate with local officials to maintain order.
Businesses, hotels, and schools along Murree Road were also ordered to close temporarily, as residents faced severe travel and communication challenges throughout the day.
