The Ebola virus outbreak originating in African countries has raised alarm across the world, while the World Health Organization has also declared the outbreak a global public health concern.

‎Pakistan’s Ministry of Health has initiated precautionary measures in view of the potential threat of the Ebola virus. The ministry has directed the National Institute of Health to take necessary steps and ensure the availability of laboratory testing kits.

‎The Health Ministry has also instructed Border Health Services to remain on high alert regarding the Ebola virus and directed authorities to carry out special monitoring of passengers arriving from Uganda and Democratic Republic of the Congo at airports.

‎According to officials, the symptoms of Ebola hemorrhagic fever are similar to those of the dengue virus, due to which medical staff have also been advised to remain cautious.

‎Officials of the Federal Ministry of National Health Services stated that the situation in Pakistan is completely under control and there is no need for any concern.

‎Meanwhile, around 300 suspected Ebola cases and 80 deaths have so far been reported in African countries, while a team from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has also arrived in both affected African countries.
