A Class One high alert has been issued across Punjab regarding the sale of a fake antibiotic injection, G-Tax 250mg.
The Directorate of Drugs Control Punjab declared the injection counterfeit on the basis of a DTL report, while a notice was issued following approval from the Provincial Quality Control Board.
The notice stated that the specific batch number 25C025 of G-Tax 250mg is fake. The counterfeit injection was recovered from a medical store in Jhelum.
The report further revealed that market authorization holders and distributors have been directed to immediately recall the stock, provide complete supply chain details, and upload recall forms. All hospitals, pharmacies, medical stores, and wholesalers have also been instructed to immediately stop the sale of the product.
In addition, the drug control authority has ordered the relevant institutions to submit details of the affected batch stock to the drug inspector.
Furthermore, the Health Department has issued a public warning advising citizens not to use injections carrying batch number 25C025, stating that the fake injection could pose serious health risks. Citizens have also been asked to report the affected batch to the Provincial Drugs Monitoring Cell.
