Imran Khan Rejects ‘Give-and-Take’ Deal, Says Talks Only for National Interest

RAWALPINDI — Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan has firmly rejected any personal compromise or “give-and-take” settlement, declaring that any potential dialogue must solely be in Pakistan’s national interest.

Senator Ali Zafar, after meeting the imprisoned leader in Adiala Jail, briefed reporters on Khan’s stance. “Imran Khan clarified he has never asked for any personal concessions, nor does he intend to,” Zafar said. “If he wanted to, he could have done so long ago.”

Imprisoned since August 2023 on a string of charges — including corruption and terrorism — the 71-year-old former prime minister emphasized that he remains open to talks, but only if they focus on national unity.

The statement came shortly after Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, publicly appealed to Pakistan’s powerful institutions to engage in a give-and-take dialogue. Defence Minister Khawaja Asif responded, describing her remarks as a “fragile effort” but noted the government could examine the offer.

“Khan made it clear he is ready to talk to the establishment for the sake of the country,” Zafar reiterated, adding that Khan warned against anyone trying to “play on both sides of the wicket” and declared he would no longer tolerate silence from those in power.

Demanding justice, Khan called for an expedited hearing of his legal cases, stating: “I only want justice.”

Zafar also revealed that the PTI has officially launched a protest movement, with a comprehensive strategy set to be unveiled in the coming days. Khan has instructed party leaders to begin preparations in full force
