Qatari mediators have delivered a fresh draft proposal to Tehran, aiming to leverage Iran’s influence over its regional allies to finalize a ceasefire and end the current war.

The move comes as Doha faces mounting pressure to deliver a diplomatic breakthrough. For Iran, the choice is now laid bare: back a structured exit strategy or risk a wider, more direct confrontation that neither Tehran nor its neighbors can afford.

Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani reportedly shared the document with Iranian officials during high-level discussions this week. While the specific terms remain confidential, the draft is understood to focus on a phased withdrawal of forces and a long-term security framework that includes Iran’s regional partners.

This isn’t just about a single front. It’s a bid to stabilize the entire “Axis of Resistance” corridor. If Tehran signs off on the language, the pressure on groups like Hamas and Hezbollah to fall in line becomes almost absolute.

“The Qataris aren’t just passing messages anymore,” one regional diplomatic source said. “They’re drafting the terms of the peace.” Tehran hasn’t officially responded, but the lack of an immediate rejection suggests the proposal is being weighed at the highest levels of the Islamic Republic.

Qatar has long walked a tightrope, maintaining its status as a major US ally while keeping open channels with Tehran. This draft represents the most significant attempt yet to bring Iran directly into the diplomatic fold of the ceasefire negotiations, rather than treating it as an outside spoiler.

The next 48 hours will be critical. If Iran signals even partial acceptance of the terms, the framework for a regional stand-down could move from a draft on a desk in Doha to a reality on the ground.
