India to Bid for 2038 Asian Games in Ahmedabad

India will bid to host the 2038 Asian Games in Ahmedabad, the country’s Olympic leadership said on Saturday, as it continues efforts to bring more major multi-sport events to the country. Indian Olympic Association president P.T. Usha said the bid process is progressing and that the Olympic Council of Asia has already discussed the proposal.

Ahmedabad has emerged as the proposed host city, further strengthening its growing role in India’s sporting ambitions. The city is already linked with India’s bid for the 2036 Olympics and has also been associated with the 2030 Commonwealth Games, making this latest move part of a broader long-term strategy rather than a standalone initiative.

According to reports, India has submitted an expression of interest to host the 2038 Asian Games, with officials indicating that an evaluation team from the Olympic Council of Asia is expected to visit. This means the process is still at an early stage, and no final decision has been made on awarding the Games.

The bid highlights India’s increasingly ambitious push to position itself as a hub for global sporting events. Officials believe hosting the Asian Games would both enhance the country’s sporting profile and strengthen Ahmedabad’s case for future Olympic hosting rights.

If successful, it would mark another major milestone in India’s efforts to develop world-class sporting infrastructure. For now, attention will remain on whether the bid gains regional support and whether Ahmedabad can meet the requirements for an event of this scale.
