Former finance minister Miftah Ismail has slammed the government’s economic policies, claiming that rising inflation and shrinking household incomes are worsening the financial condition of ordinary citizens across Pakistan.

Speaking on the country’s economic situation, Miftah Ismail said continuous price hikes in essential commodities, electricity, gas, and fuel have severely affected the purchasing power of the public. He added that despite official claims of economic stability, people are struggling to meet daily expenses.

He argued that weak policymaking and the absence of long-term planning have contributed to economic uncertainty and increased pressure on middle- and lower-income families. According to him, household incomes have failed to keep pace with inflation, leaving many families financially vulnerable.

Miftah Ismail urged the government to introduce sustainable economic reforms, improve governance, and prioritize relief measures for the public. He warned that without effective policy changes, economic hardships could intensify in the coming months.
