Tehran: Iran has praised Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions in the Middle East and promoting dialogue amid ongoing regional uncertainty.
During a meeting in Tehran, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian appreciated Pakistan’s “constructive and positive role” in supporting peace and stability across the region. The remarks came during talks with Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who visited Iran as part of ongoing diplomatic engagements.
According to Iranian state media, both sides discussed the evolving security situation in the Gulf region, ongoing indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States, and efforts to prevent further escalation in the Middle East.
Iranian officials acknowledged Islamabad’s balanced diplomatic approach and its continued support for peaceful solutions through dialogue and negotiations. Tehran also expressed hope for stronger regional cooperation to maintain stability.
Pakistan has consistently called for restraint and diplomacy in addressing regional conflicts. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar have repeatedly emphasized the importance of negotiations over confrontation.
Recent international reports indicate that Pakistan has been involved in backchannel diplomatic contacts alongside other regional countries seeking to ease tensions between Tehran and Washington.
Analysts believe Pakistan’s active diplomatic engagement has strengthened its position as an emerging mediator in regional affairs.
