A four-day polio vaccination campaign will target more than 400,000 children across Islamabad from September 21 to 24, 2026, as authorities step up efforts to protect children against the crippling disease.
The Islamabad capital administration reviewed preparations for the special campaign during a meeting of the District Polio Eradication Committee, chaired by the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad. Officials discussed arrangements for reaching eligible children across the capital and reviewed the performance of the previous vaccination drive.
According to the administration, all 80 union councils of Islamabad have been included in the upcoming campaign. Authorities also examined areas where previous campaigns faced challenges in order to improve vaccination coverage during the September drive.
The campaign is aimed at ensuring that children receive their polio vaccine doses and strengthening efforts to prevent the spread of poliovirus. Parents and caregivers are urged to cooperate with vaccination teams and ensure that eligible children receive the vaccine during the campaign.
