QUETTA — A mobile phone dealer from Karachi, identified as Ali Jamil, was shot dead by unidentified armed men in the Dasht area of Balochistan on Friday night. According to Minhaj Gulfam, Chairman of the Karachi Mobile and Electronics Dealers Association, the tragic incident occurred while the trader was traveling from Karachi to Quetta alongside his family. Initial findings indicate that the family reportedly lost their way due to an error in a digital navigation application, which misdirected their vehicle into a remote and volatile terrain known as Khand within the Dasht region.
Upon entering the unfamiliar territory, the family’s vehicle came under indiscriminate firing by unknown militants. The ambush resulted in the immediate death of Ali Jamil, who was a resident of the Nazimabad neighborhood and an active member of the local electronics trade association. A female family member sustained severe bullet injuries during the attack, while two young children traveling with them miraculously remained unharmed. The body of the deceased and the injured woman have since been transported back to Karachi for medical treatment and final rites.
The leadership of the Karachi Mobile and Electronics Dealers Association has strongly condemned the targeted attack, labeling it a cowardly act of terrorism. Association President Minhaj Gulfam expressed deep sorrow over the loss, praying for the departed soul and strength for the bereaved family. The trade body has formally requested the federal government to take immediate notice of the security failure, launch a high-level investigation, and bring the perpetrators to justice. The funeral prayers for Ali Jamil are scheduled to be offered on Sunday at a mosque adjacent to his residence in the Bahadur Yar Jang Cooperative Society, located on Muhammad Abdul Rahman Rais Road in Nazimabad, Karachi.
