Karachi Traffic Police have started issuing e-challans to motorcycles parked in violation of traffic rules after photographing them through the digital enforcement system.
Traffic officials said motorcycles parked in no-parking zones or in a way that disrupts traffic flow are being identified through cameras and mobile-based monitoring. After verification, e-challans are issued to the registered owners of the vehicles.
The move is part of Karachi’s expanding digital traffic enforcement system, which already uses Safe City cameras for no-parking violations. Officials say no-parking violations can lead to fines, including penalties for motorcycles.
Authorities say the purpose of the campaign is to reduce illegal parking, improve traffic flow and discourage motorists from blocking roads and busy commercial areas.
Citizens have been advised to avoid parking motorcycles in no-parking zones, on footpaths, near intersections or in areas where vehicles obstruct traffic movement.
