LAHORE — Police have registered a case against a relative of Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, following allegations of kidnapping and gang rape filed by two foreign women. The First Information Report (FIR), filed late Tuesday night, has sent shockwaves through the provincial capital’s political circles.

The complainants, both foreign nationals, allege they were abducted from a private gathering in Lahore’s upscale Gulberg area. According to the police report, the suspects held the women against their will for several hours, during which the alleged assault occurred.

The primary suspect named in the FIR is a close relative of Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar.

Investigating officers confirmed the registration of the FIR under sections of the Pakistan Penal Code related to kidnapping and rape. “We are following the law,” said a senior official at the Gulberg police station, speaking on condition of anonymity. “The investigation is in its infancy, and we are currently processing forensic evidence collected from the scene.”

Medical examinations of the victims have been completed, and reports are pending. Investigators are now reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity of the residence where the incident reportedly took place.

The political fallout was immediate. Opposition leaders have seized on the timing, demanding an impartial investigation and calling for the suspect’s immediate arrest.

So far, the Deputy Prime Minister’s office has remained silent. No statement has been issued, and no legal representative for the accused has appeared to address the specific allegations publicly.

The case marks a critical test for Punjab’s law enforcement, which frequently faces criticism over the handling of high-profile cases involving influential figures. With international eyes on the proceedings, the pressure on the Lahore police to conduct a transparent investigation is mounting by the hour.

For now, the suspects remain at large. Authorities have not yet confirmed if any arrests have been made, or if the primary suspect has been summoned for questioning.
