Karachi, October 28, 2025 — The Department of Zoology at the University of Karachi, in collaboration with the ConseRaptor Foundation, organized an awareness seminar on the conservation of birds of prey to highlight their ecological importance and promote wildlife protection.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood Iraqi, along with faculty members and students from various departments, attended the seminar. Experts emphasized that raptors are not merely hunters but serve as natural “pest controllers,” helping to prevent the spread of diseases and maintain ecological balance.
They further explained that vultures and falcons play a vital role as “scavengers” and “ecological cleaners,” contributing to natural sanitation by consuming carcasses and keeping the environment healthy.
The event concluded with the release of several rehabilitated injured raptors into their natural habitats, an effort carried out in the presence of wildlife officials to promote conservation and awareness.
