Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced a landmark initiative to provide free education in top-tier institutions for the children of industrial and mine workers across the province. Under this program, children of registered laborers will be granted admission to COMSATS University, with the Government of Punjab covering all tuition fees.

According to official details, eligible students will be able to enroll in any of the seven COMSATS campuses located in Islamabad, Abbottabad, Wah, Attock, Lahore, Sahiwal, and Vehari. This opportunity is also extended to children of disabled or deceased registered workers, ensuring no deserving child is left behind.

The Punjab Workers Welfare Fund, acting on the Chief Minister’s instructions, has begun accepting applications from workers. Each application must include the worker’s national identity card, registration certificate, the student’s CNIC or B-form, and a copy of the Social Security or Old Age Benefit (EOBI) card. Applications are to be submitted online via the COMSATS University website.

Specific deadlines have been set for each campus: July 9 for Islamabad, July 17 for Lahore, August 4 for Wah and Abbottabad, August 11 for Vehari and Attock, and August 15 for Sahiwal. Applicants must ensure all documents are complete before submission.

Speaking about the initiative, Maryam Nawaz said, “Workers are the pride of our nation. We are opening the doors of quality education and healthcare to their children.” She reaffirmed her government’s commitment to ensuring that no child in Punjab, regardless of background, is deprived of educational opportunities.

She further stated that these are historic steps for the welfare of laborers, unmatched by any previous government. “We are taking unprecedented measures to uplift our workers and their families, she added.
