According to sources, this legislative move comes amid ongoing leadership friction between the ministry and the IHRA Board regarding the acting CEO appointment, after the board assigned the role to Dr. Rataba instead of extending the temporary charge to Dr. Zaeem despite the ministry’s directives.
Meanwhile, major pharmaceutical companies have initiated a voluntary nationwide recall for select lots and dosage strengths of levothyroxine sodium tablets. Classified by the U.S. FDA as a Class II recall, the action follows testing concerns revealing that certain batches are subpotent—containing less active ingredient than specified—affecting 12 product lines across seven dosage strengths distributed from Indianapolis and Cardinal Health.
