‎It has been revealed that more than 93,000 children in Pakistan fall victim to tuberculosis every year. To protect children from the disease, the World Health Organization, the Federal Ministry of Health, and Médecins Sans Frontières have joined hands to promote diagnosis, treatment, and preventive measures against the life threatening disease.

‎The report regarding TB among Pakistani children was presented during a roundtable conference organized under the partnership of the three institutions. According to estimates, the number of registered TB patients in Pakistan has reached 669,000, of which 14 percent are children.

‎According to the World Health Organization, Pakistan is the fifth most affected country in the world in terms of tuberculosis cases. During the conference, recommendations were prepared to improve the response to TB during childhood. The World Health Organization also emphasized incorporating scientific preventive guidelines into national policies.
