MQM Member of the Sindh Assembly, Najam Mirza, has submitted a resolution in the Sindh Assembly calling for effective measures to combat thalassemia.
The resolution highlights that every year thousands of children in Sindh are born with thalassemia major, while millions are carriers of the disease, making it a serious public health concern.
Najam Mirza’s resolution urges awareness about thalassemia before marriage, inclusion of thalassemia testing in marriage certificates, better regulation of laboratories, and strict implementation of relevant laws.
He emphasized that thalassemia is a preventable disease and timely awareness and proper measures can save children’s lives and protect families from long-term mental and financial hardships.
The resolution is described as a practical step toward ensuring a healthier and safer future for Sindh’s coming generations.
