Federal investigators raided a private call center in Karachi’s upscale neighborhood on Tuesday, arresting two key partners linked to a sophisticated financial fraud operation. The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) operation targeted a facility that allegedly functioned as a front for targeting international clients.

The raid, executed late Tuesday, saw agents seize dozens of high-end servers, encrypted hardware, and thousands of customer records. Investigators say the operation wasn’t just a standard telemarketing firm; it was a hub for multi-million dollar “vishing” schemes—voice phishing—that targeted residents in the United Kingdom and the United States.

The two partners, whose names remain under wraps as the investigation widens, were apprehended on-site. They are accused of using spoofing software to disguise their location, posing as bank representatives or tax officials to extract sensitive banking credentials from victims abroad.

“This wasn’t a small-time setup,” a senior NCCIA official told reporters on the condition of anonymity. “These individuals were running a professionalized criminal enterprise. They had scripts, they had training modules for their staff, and they had a pipeline for laundering the proceeds back into local real estate.”

The agency began tracking the facility three months ago after receiving intelligence from international law enforcement counterparts. The call center had been operating under the guise of an IT consultancy firm, but the sheer volume of outbound international traffic—and the lack of legitimate business contracts—raised red flags with local service providers.

For Karachi’s legitimate IT sector, the raid brings a familiar sting. Industry leaders have long complained that a handful of rogue call centers tarnish the reputation of Pakistan’s burgeoning tech export market. The NCCIA indicated that this raid is part of a broader crackdown on “grey traffic” and illegal call centers currently operating across the city’s commercial districts.

Authorities are now analyzing the seized digital evidence to identify the victims and the total scale of the financial drain. While the two partners sit in custody, the agency expects more arrests in the coming days, as they trace the financial trails leading to the suspects’ offshore accounts.

The suspects are expected to be presented in court Wednesday, where the agency will seek physical remand to continue the interrogation.
