A new case of polio has been reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to the provincial health department.
The health officials confirmed that the virus was detected in a five-month-old child from Union Council Sulaiman Khel in Lakki Marwat district.
Earlier, a polio case was also reported in the Tank district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where a 10-month-old child had tested positive for the virus, as confirmed by the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC).
With this latest case, the total number of polio cases in the province has reached 19 this year.
According to NEOC, the polio situation in the southern regions of the province remains alarming. A nationwide special anti-polio campaign is scheduled to launch next month.
