Only one out of 29 environmental samples collected during June in Sindh has tested positive for the polio virus.
According to the Sindh Emergency Operations Center, the positive sample was reported from Karachi East, while the significant decline in the spread of polio across the province is being attributed to joint efforts and effective vaccination campaigns.
The Sindh Emergency Operations Center has released the latest statistics regarding environmental surveillance of the polio virus in the province, stating that positive trends are emerging in the overall situation.
Of the 29 environmental samples collected during June, only one sample tested positive for the polio virus, while 21 samples were declared negative and the results of seven samples are still pending.
According to the Sindh EOC, the positive environmental sample was reported from Karachi East, while no other area of the province showed confirmed presence of the polio virus during this round.
The organization stated that Sindh has made significant progress in reducing the spread of the polio virus, which is the result of community cooperation, the tireless efforts of frontline workers, and the collective contributions of government partners.
Parents have been urged to welcome polio teams, ensure that their children receive polio drops, and rely only on authentic sources for information related to polio.
