The Health Department of Sindh has launched the first Riverine Boat Ambulance in the province.

‎The health sector in Sindh is being rapidly aligned with modern requirements, and now the Sindh Health Department has achieved another milestone.

‎The Sindh Integrated Emergency Health Services Department has introduced the province’s first Riverine Boat Ambulance Service.

‎This boat ambulance will help save precious human lives and ensure the provision of modern emergency facilities in flood affected areas, natural disaster zones, and difficult water regions.

‎The service is specially designed for areas where access by land routes is limited or impossible.

‎The boat ambulance is equipped with modern medical equipment and a wireless communication system. In the initial phase, four boats are being operated on a trial basis, while in the next phase of the project, the number of boats is planned to be increased to 26.

‎This model was also showcased at the recently held Maritime Expo, where it received significant appreciation from both local and foreign delegations.

‎Brigadier (Retired) Tariq Qadir Lakhiar, CEO of the Sindh Integrated Emergency Health Services Department, stated that this service is intended for people living near water bodies who do not want to leave their homes. These individuals will receive first aid and be transported to hospitals when needed.

‎He further mentioned that the ambulance has already been tested in the coastal areas of Karachi, Thatta, and Sujawal, as well as in Keenjhar Lake, while trials are ongoing in Manchar Lake, Larkana, Sukkur, and Kashmore.
