More than 33 million people in Pakistan are living with diabetes, and 30 to 40 percent of them are also dealing with mental stress. This was shared by Diabetologist Professor Abdul Basit while speaking to journalists at Indus Hospital.
He said that diabetic patients are two to three times more likely to suffer from depression compared to others.
He also pointed out the serious lack of mental health professionals in the country, according to Samaa News.
At the same event, Dr Abdul Bari Khan, President of Indus Hospital and Health Network, said the hospital provides free and quality treatment.
He added that the hospital is also working to raise public awareness through health-related research.
