Alongside protecting the lives and property of the public, Punjab Police is also playing a leading role in blood donation activities for citizens.
On World Blood Donor Day, Punjab Police reaffirmed its commitment to further promoting blood donation activities under community policing initiatives.
IG Punjab Abdul Karim said that Punjab Police salutes its personnel and citizens who donate blood to save precious human lives. He added that Punjab Police stands shoulder to shoulder with the Health Department and private welfare organizations in the fight against thalassemia and in efforts to save human lives.
Punjab Police personnel are regularly donating blood for children affected by thalassemia and hemophilia. The IG Punjab directed that more blood donation camps be established in all field formations and units in collaboration with private organizations.
On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan’s first and model Virtual Blood Bank Center has been established. Citizens can obtain urgently needed blood for patients through the Virtual Blood Bank Center by calling the Emergency Helpline 15.
He said that after calling Emergency Helpline 15, pressing button 4 immediately connects the caller to the Virtual Blood Bank. The duty officer at the Virtual Blood Bank obtains information regarding the patient’s location and blood group.
