Mir Raza’s family has formally rejected the police’s preliminary investigation into his death, accusing investigators of rushing to label the incident a suicide to avoid a deeper probe.

The family’s legal team filed a petition Tuesday, asserting that evidence collected from the scene was mishandled and that detectives ignored clear signs of foul play. The police, meanwhile, maintain that the initial forensic report—which pointed toward self-inflicted injuries—remains their primary line of inquiry.

“They haven’t even looked at the digital footprint,” said the family’s attorney during a press briefing outside the station. “They want this case closed as quickly as possible. We want the truth.”

The case has gained significant traction on social media, where activists are questioning the speed of the investigation. Critics argue that the local department has a history of classifying suspicious deaths as suicides to clear their dockets without conducting lengthy, resource-heavy homicide inquiries.

Police officials denied the allegations of negligence. A spokesperson for the department told reporters that investigators are waiting for a final toxicology report before making any definitive legal changes to the case file. He insisted the department is following “standard protocol” and urged the public to refrain from speculation.

For the parents, the delay in a secondary investigation is a personal affront. They spent the morning meeting with senior oversight officials, demanding that a new, independent team be assigned to re-examine the physical evidence.

The case now sits in a state of administrative limbo. If the oversight board agrees with the family’s request, the current investigation will be effectively scrapped. If not, the police report will likely move toward a final closure—leaving a grieving family with more questions than answers.
