ISLAMABAD: The federal government has increased the price of petrol by 27 paisas per litre for August 21, 2026, under Pakistan’s daily petroleum pricing mechanism.

Following the latest revision, petrol will be available at Rs337.78 per litre, compared with Rs337.51 per litre previously. The government also increased the price of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) by Rs1.64 per litre, taking its price to Rs364.70 per litre. 

New Petrol and Diesel Prices

The revised rates, effective from Friday, August 21, are:

  • Petrol: Rs337.78 per litre — up Rs0.27
  • High-Speed Diesel: Rs364.70 per litre — up Rs1.64

The latest notification was issued under the revised petroleum pricing mechanism, under which fuel prices are now being adjusted on a daily basis.

Petrol Price Increases Again

The latest increase comes just one day after petrol was raised by Rs2.97 per litre for August 20, taking the price to Rs337.51.

The new daily pricing system allows petroleum prices to be adjusted more frequently in response to movements in international oil markets and other pricing factors.

Diesel Price Also Goes Up

Along with petrol, the government has increased the HSD price by Rs1.64 per litre.

Diesel prices are particularly important for the transport and agricultural sectors because HSD is widely used by trucks, buses, machinery and other commercial vehicles. Any sustained increase can therefore contribute to higher transportation and operating costs.

Impact on Consumers

The 27-paisa increase in petrol is relatively small compared with some of the larger revisions seen in recent weeks. However, the continued daily adjustment of fuel prices means consumers are closely watching the market for further changes.

Higher petrol prices can increase commuting costs for motorists and may also put indirect pressure on transportation and delivery expenses.

The latest rates will remain applicable for August 21, 2026, subject to any subsequent revision under the daily pricing mechanism.
