ISLAMABAD — In a high-level telephonic diplomatic exchange, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman underscored their mutual readiness to finalize and sign a comprehensive, multi-billion-dollar bilateral economic package under Riyadh’s strategic patronage.

According to an official statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on Friday, June 19, 2026, the discussion centered heavily on structural economic integration, regional stabilization, and national security matrices. PM Shehbaz extended his formal congratulations to the Saudi leadership following the signing of the historic Islamabad Peace Deal, a landmark diplomatic breakthrough that successfully concluded active military hostilities between the United States and Iran.

Amid the rapidly evolving geopolitical landscape, both leaders issued a joint call for heightened vigilance, urging international stakeholders to actively guard against any external or localized attempts to derail the ongoing US-Iran peace negotiations. Strategic relations between Islamabad and Riyadh remain at an all-time high; the two sovereign allies previously signed a binding Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement (SMDA) in September last year, a mutual defense pact which explicitly mandates that a kinetic military attack against either nation is treated as a direct act of aggression against both.
