Punjab’s Chief Minister and Education Minister have approved a new directive requiring daily anti-littering lessons in schools to instill cleanliness habits among children.
The initiative, inspired by a citizen’s suggestion on social media, instructs teachers to remind students not to throw litter on roads, in classrooms, or at home. Instead, children will be encouraged to use dustbins or keep a spare bag for wrappers and trash until proper disposal.
Class teachers will repeat the guidance after every lesson, while school administrations must ensure campuses remain litter-free.
Supporters say the move could spark a province-wide civic movement, with children carrying the habit home and influencing families. The citizen behind the idea stressed that such small, consistent actions could gradually introduce broader social behaviors seen in developed nations.
He noted that the campaign requires no financial cost—only commitment—and praised the CM’s simple order as a step toward cultural change.
