LAHORE: Punjab’s educational boards are set to introduce a new marking system for board examinations aimed at making paper checking more transparent, structured and consistent.

Under the revised rubric-based marking system, examiners will allocate marks according to specific parts of each question instead of relying mainly on an overall assessment of the answer. This will give students clearer opportunities to earn marks for individual components of their responses.

The new procedure is expected to be implemented across all educational boards in Punjab, beginning with the second annual examinations. Officials say the change is intended to reduce inconsistencies in marking and improve fairness in the assessment process.

The move comes as Punjab continues to introduce reforms aimed at improving examination standards. Authorities have also been working to strengthen the assessment of practical examinations through more structured testing and monitoring.

The new system is expected to provide a more uniform approach to marking and help ensure that students receive marks based on clearly defined assessment criteria.

Teacher Transfer Restrictions Relaxed Across Balochistan QUETTA: The Balochistan government has relaxed restrictions on the transfer and posting of teachers, allowing teaching staff to seek transfers within their respective districts against vacant and approved posts. The School Education Department has issued a revised notification outlining the new arrangements. Under the policy, eligible teachers can be transferred to vacant and sanctioned posts within the same district, providing greater flexibility in teacher postings. However, the ban on inter-district transfers for Secondary School Teachers (SSTs), headmasters and headmistresses will remain in effect. The department has also allowed surplus teachers currently posted in Quetta to return to their native districts. At the same time, teachers cannot be transferred from another district to Quetta or from Quetta to another district under the stated restrictions. Teachers awaiting posting have been directed to submit their applications to the concerned District Education Officer (DEO) within one month. The department has warned that officials or individuals found violating the revised transfer policy will face departmental action. The relaxation is expected to provide relief to eligible teachers while helping the education authorities make better use of available teaching posts across districts.
