RAWALPINDI: The District Health Administration, in collaboration with allied departments, has registered 1,670 FIRs and sealed 440 premises across Rawalpindi for violating anti-dengue standard operating procedures (SOPs) since January 1, 2026.

District Coordinator Epidemics Prevention and Control (DCEPC) Dr Jawad Ahmed said authorities have also issued 1,565 challans and imposed fines totaling Rs1.974 million on violators.

As part of the anti-dengue surveillance campaign, 1,460 teams inspected 391,747 houses, detecting dengue larvae at 74,392 locations. During outdoor surveillance, teams inspected more than 1.33 million sites and found larvae at 87,408 locations.

So far this year, Rawalpindi has reported six confirmed dengue cases, compared with 68 cases during the same period in 2025.

Health authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and prevent stagnant water from accumulating in homes, workplaces and other areas. Officials have also highlighted junkyards, schools and under-construction buildings as locations requiring particular attention to prevent mosquito breeding.

Teacher Transfer Restrictions Relaxed Across Balochistan QUETTA: The Balochistan government has relaxed restrictions on the transfer and posting of teachers, allowing teaching staff to seek transfers within their respective districts against vacant and approved posts. The School Education Department has issued a revised notification outlining the new arrangements. Under the policy, eligible teachers can be transferred to vacant and sanctioned posts within the same district, providing greater flexibility in teacher postings. However, the ban on inter-district transfers for Secondary School Teachers (SSTs), headmasters and headmistresses will remain in effect. The department has also allowed surplus teachers currently posted in Quetta to return to their native districts. At the same time, teachers cannot be transferred from another district to Quetta or from Quetta to another district under the stated restrictions. Teachers awaiting posting have been directed to submit their applications to the concerned District Education Officer (DEO) within one month. The department has warned that officials or individuals found violating the revised transfer policy will face departmental action. The relaxation is expected to provide relief to eligible teachers while helping the education authorities make better use of available teaching posts across districts.
