Sindh Seeks Interpol Red Notice for Alleged Lyari Gangster Wasiullah Lakho

Karachi: Sindh authorities have sought an Interpol Red Notice for alleged Lyari gang figure Wasiullah Lakho, as law-enforcement agencies intensify efforts to crack down on extortion networks said to be operating from abroad. Officials say the case has been forwarded through the federal government, as required for Interpol requests.

The development comes amid growing concern in Karachi over extortion threats targeting traders and business owners. Police and Sindh government officials have described Lakho as one of the key figures allegedly linked to organised criminal activity connected to Lyari and operating outside Pakistan.

Earlier reports said the Sindh government had asked the federal government to approach Interpol for the issuance of a Red Notice against Lakho. More recent local reporting says the request and supporting documents have already been sent, though public confirmation from Interpol remains unclear.

Under Interpol rules, a Red Notice is a request to law-enforcement agencies worldwide to locate and provisionally arrest a wanted person pending extradition or similar legal action. It is not, by itself, an international arrest warrant, and many Red Notices are not made public on Interpol’s website.

Officials say Pakistan has sought or forwarded a request for a Red Notice against Wasiullah Lakho, but there has been no public confirmation yet from Interpol regarding its issuance.
