The National Emergency Operations Center (EOC) has announced that a special anti polio campaign will begin from May 18 in 79 selected districts across the country and will continue until May 24.
According to the National EOC, during the campaign, 19 million children will be administered polio drops, while more than 160,000 polio workers will perform duties in this national campaign.
The EOC stated that the special anti-polio campaign will be conducted simultaneously in Pakistan and Afghanistan to effectively prevent the spread of the virus.
According to the statistics, 6.19 million children in 10 selected districts of Punjab, 5.79 million children in 20 districts of Sindh, 4.61 million children in 23 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and 1.99 million children in 25 districts of Balochistan will be administered polio drops.
In Islamabad, 450,000 children will also be given the polio vaccine.
The National EOC has appealed to parents to welcome polio teams and ensure that their children under the age of five receive polio drops so they can be protected from lifelong disability.
