The latest research has revealed that a vegetable based diet may reduce the risk of cancer.

‎The findings showed that consumption of vegetables was associated with lower risks of pancreatic, breast, prostate, kidney, and blood cancers. However, vegans, who avoid not only meat but also dairy products, were found to have cancer risks similar to those who consume meat.

‎Researchers at University of Oxford reached these conclusions after reviewing diet and disease related data from 1.8 million people across three continents.

‎The researchers stated that meat free diets are typically higher in fruits, vegetables, and fiber, which are important for health. However, vegans miss out on protective nutrients found in dairy foods.

‎The study found that vegetarians experienced a reduction in cancer risk ranging from 12 to 31 percent, depending on the type of cancer.
