Measles has claimed the lives of 206 children in Bangladesh, while 352,020 children have been affected by the disease. Across Bangladesh, 206 children have died from measles and measles like symptoms.
So far, measles has been confirmed in 653 individuals, while the number of people affected with suspected measles symptoms stands at 20,352. This information has been provided by Bangladesh’s Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room.
According to data, Dhaka division tops in terms of deaths, where a total of 98 children have died, including 20 confirmed measles deaths and 78 suspected measles related deaths. It is followed by Rajshahi division, where 68 children have died.
In addition, 16 children have died in Chattogram, 10 in Khulna, 7 in Barisal and 5 in Sylhet division. Health experts say that not only measles but other infections are also responsible for this situation, however a positive aspect is that despite the outbreak, thousands of children are recovering.
