Two teenagers died instantly Friday night when a speeding car struck their motorcycle near the Malir Court in Karachi. The impact was violent enough to throw both victims several feet from their vehicle, leaving debris scattered across the National Highway.

Witnesses at the scene said the car, a silver sedan, was weaving through traffic at a high rate of speed before it clipped the victims’ bike. The driver did not stop. Instead, the vehicle accelerated, disappearing into the dark toward the city center.

Police arrived shortly after, but for the two youths—both residents of a nearby neighborhood—it was already too late. Their bodies were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for post-mortem examinations. Officials confirmed the victims were aged between 17 and 19.

“We have collected CCTV footage from the surrounding businesses,” said the area’s SHO. “The car’s registration plate is partially obscured, but we are tracking its trajectory through the city’s camera network.”

For families living along the National Highway, this tragedy is a grim reminder of a recurring danger. Speeding remains a common sight on this stretch, where heavy traffic and residential areas collide without adequate speed-calming measures.

Police have registered a case against unknown suspects for reckless driving and failure to provide assistance. As of Saturday morning, the driver remained at large.

The grieving families are now preparing for funeral rites, while local residents have demanded the installation of speed breakers and increased police patrols to prevent further loss of life on this lethal stretch of road.
