The country witnessed a decline in weekly inflation, with the overall rate dropping by 0.64 percent, bringing the annual inflation figure down to 4 percent, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
The latest inflation report showed that prices of 13 essential items increased, 15 registered a decrease, while rates of 23 commodities remained unchanged during the week.
Items that became more expensive included garlic (1.86%), cooking oil (1.54%), eggs (0.81%), and ghee (0.40%). Prices of bananas, flour, LPG and cigarettes also saw an upward trend.
Meanwhile, major relief was recorded in key vegetable prices, with tomatoes becoming cheaper by 30.11%, onions by 12.41%, and potatoes by 6.92%. Chicken rates dipped by 4.46%, while sugar saw a 3.31% reduction.
Additionally, pulses including chickpea and masoor, along with diesel and petrol, recorded price declines, providing mild relief to consumers amid persistent inflationary pressure.
