South Africa Smash 270 in Just 40 Overs to Humble Pakistan

South Africa produced a commanding display in Faisalabad as they chased down Pakistan’s 269-run target with ease to win the second ODI by eight wickets, leveling the series in style.

Pakistan, batting first, posted 269 for 9 in 50 overs, with contributions across the middle order. However, South Africa’s response was ruthless — Quinton de Kock led from the front with a magnificent 123 not out off 119 balls, striking 8 fours and 7 sixes.

He was well supported by Tony de Zorzi, who smashed 76 runs from 63 balls, and Lhuan-dre Pretorius, who added a quick 46 off 40 deliveries to set the tone early. The Proteas reached 270/2 in just 40.1 overs, finishing with a remarkable run rate of 6.72.

Pakistan’s bowling looked toothless on a batting-friendly track as Shaheen Afridi (0/41) and Naseem Shah (0/34) failed to make breakthroughs, while Saim Ayub also went wicketless in his 3.1 overs.

With this victory, South Africa not only leveled the series but also gained significant momentum heading into the decider.
