Washington: The White House said the United States wants a unified response from Iran as the Trump administration waits for Tehran’s position on a peace proposal aimed at extending the current ceasefire into a broader agreement. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said President Donald Trump is seeking a collective Iranian reply rather than mixed signals from different power centres inside the country.
The remark comes as Washington continues diplomatic pressure on Tehran while insisting its core demands have not changed. In earlier briefings, Leavitt said the administration’s red lines include ending uranium enrichment in Iran and preventing Tehran from acquiring a nuclear weapon, even as talks continue on a possible negotiated settlement.
The wider backdrop remains tense. Recent reporting says President Trump extended the ceasefire while waiting for Iran’s formal proposal, but uncertainty has persisted over whether Tehran’s leadership can produce a single negotiating position amid internal divisions and continued friction in the Gulf.
